Do I need to hire a Videographer (or even a Photographer) for my Wedding ?

A question that we face many times in blogs, facebook groups, even straight to us. The answer is so simple: Definitely NOT ! You don’t need a videographer, probably you don’t even need a photographer, maybe you don’t even need to get married. Wedding Videography and wedding photography are not definitely something that we need for living our lives. It’s not food or water… or a house to live in.

Wedding Videography and Wedding Photography is what we call “emotional needs”. Both of these are a way to tunnel the “memories” which actually begins right after your Wedding Day. The next day after your ceremony, the memories are exactly what you love to remember from the greatest event of your life. In the following days, weeks, months or even after 1-2 years these memories are still very fresh and clean. You look at your wedding album or your wedding film and most of the things you see there seems so familiar to you…

As the years pass by these exact memories will have started to fade and that’s normal. You still remember the “basics” of your ceremony but not all of them, especially the details. You are looking at the people and saying… “Oh my God… look at him” (how was he then) or “look at her dress”.

That’s exactly the time that you need to refresh your memory (ies) back and your wedding video or your wedding photos (or both of them) they are acting like “a memory refresher”.

You will never regret how much have you spend on wedding photography or videography and you will not even mention that after your wedding day. That’s the thing you have to think about before, and not after your wedding. We call it a budget… or wedding budget. When you are thinking about your wedding budget, just take a second to think about your dress, your flowers, your wedding cars or even your venue. Do you think that after your wedding day you will remember all of those things if you don’t have a video or photos to remind you ?

After 20+ years in the wedding industry, I have a lot of memories of couples who have had regrets about not having a videographer or a photographer at their wedding. I have never heard even one not regretting about having one… A lot of times I hear about how good or how bad their photographer or videographer was but that’s another story…

I did not have a videographer, it was a budgeting issue, but I regret it very much.” This is what we usually hear… At the same time they preferred to spend much more for flowers or other things… which were only for this day alone. And what a shame… they won’t even remember those either because of that budget issue… those items alone maybe cost as much as your brand new mobile.

It wasn’t an option for us to not have the videographer. I wanted to be able to show my future children my wedding” is another phrase we hear very often.

So my advice to you, the next time you ask the same questions… (about if you need a videographer for your wedding) I will tell this… Go and ask the same questions to a friend who hired a videographer for his/her wedding day, and also one that she/he didn’t.

Right after we are pretty sure that you will be 100% sure what you have to do.
